OWAIN MATTHEWS – TRIATHLETE & COACH

Discovering a love for athletics at high school, Owain Matthews has competed at an international level in running and triathlon for over 15 years.

His first opportunity to run professionally for Great Britain was in the 3000m Steeplechase against France and Russia in 2004. Following on from this, he competed internationally in 5k and 10k road races for Wales, and in 2007 was 2x Welsh Champion, winning the Welsh 3000m indoor and outdoor track titles.

Owain transitioned to triathlon in 2012 when he moved to Australia and has competed at numerous triathlon events and Ironman World Championships for the past six years. He was the 2016 Ironman 70.3 World Age Group Champion M35-39 and was also named Balmoral Triathlete Club Triathlete of the Year in 2013, 2015 and 2017.

Owain won the 2018 Standard Distance World Championships, Gold Coast, in the Male 35-39 category.

This year Owain is looking forward to running in the 2023 Mini-Mos with his family – his wife Dani and 2 little boys.

As a triathlon coach, Owain will be giving advice and training tips leading up to the 2024 Mini-Mos.

ED GODDARD – DISTANCE RUNNER

Ed Goddard is a Mini-Mos master, this year being his 13th Mini-Mos – and he's only 26! Ed has already racked up some enviable Mini-Mos results including winning the virtual event in 2020 only a few seconds off the course record!

Ed has lived in Mosman his whole life and lists Mosman and Cremorne Point as some of his favourite training routes. Many locals will have spotted Ed moving well faster than the Military Road traffic, shirtless and with his legendary blonde 'mullet' filled with breeze!
